Pakistan Afghan Urial

A single Afghan urial tag in the Sulaiman Range — the rugged limestone country of Baluchistan and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that the straight-horned Suleiman markhor also calls home. The Afghan urial is a genuinely distinct subspecies from the Blandford urial of the Sindh ibex ranges further south: bigger in the body, heavier in the horn, and found in different mountains entirely. Mature rams carry deep, out-swept horns with a pronounced curl and a dark throat ruff in winter coat. Seven days of hard, honest spot-and-stalk: long glassing sessions off the ridges at first light, then a careful stalk through broken rock and juniper. Community conservancy fees fund the local villages that guard these herds, and the whole permit, licence and firearm-import chain is handled before you land. One tag only — pricing is fixed for the season at $42,000 all-in on the ground.

Would book again tomorrow

Everything was handled — licensing, transfers, logistics. I just had to show up and hunt. The Afghan Urial were right where the guides said they'd be. Honest outfitter, zero surprises, and worth every penny.

Straight talk, zero surprises

Tough, fair and unforgettable. We glassed hard for days before I got my shot at a mature Afghan Urial. Sulaiman Range is stunning. Dispatch set expectations honestly up front — no sales pitch, just straight talk.
