A true mountain hunt. The Himalayan tahr lives on the steepest bluffs of the Southern Alps, and a heavy old bull in full winter mane — blond ruff blowing in the wind against the snow — is one of the great alpine trophies on earth. We climb and glass the high faces for a mature bull, with the finest capes coming in the depths of the New Zealand winter. Premium winter-cape bulls are graded above. Day rates cover accommodation, main meals and guiding ($500 per hunter / $250 per non-hunter, per day). A $1,000 reserve holds your dates — request this season's open windows and a Dispatch advisor takes care of the rest.

Can't say enough about this one. The Himalayan Bull Tahr hunt in South Island pushed me, but the crew took great care of us. Trophy care was excellent and the whole thing ran like clockwork. Already planning my next trip with them.

Everything was handled — licensing, transfers, logistics. I just had to show up and hunt. The Himalayan Bull Tahr were right where the guides said they'd be. Honest outfitter, zero surprises, and worth every penny.
Second hunt with Dispatch and the Himalayan Bull Tahr trip did not disappoint. South Island is no joke — physically demanding — but the camp, the food and the guiding were all first class. Tagged out on a great animal and made memories that'll last forever.
