New Zealand Drop Camp

Peak roar: March–April — book now
New Zealand's prime season books out early. Reserve your dates to lock in the roar.

For the hunter who wants to earn it. We fly or pack you into a remote backcountry camp deep in the free-range tops and turn you loose on genuinely wild red stag, tahr and chamois country. You hunt your own hours, on your own terms, with a comfortable base camp set up and provisioned for you. Priced per person (minimum two hunters — ask about group rates). Choose a 5-day or 7-day camp below. Day rates cover accommodation, main meals and guiding ($500 per hunter / $250 per non-hunter, per day). A $1,000 reserve holds your dates — request this season's open windows and a Dispatch advisor takes care of the rest.

Earned it — and loved it

Can't say enough about this one. The Free-Range · Self-Guided hunt in South Island pushed me, but the crew took great care of us. Trophy care was excellent and the whole thing ran like clockwork. Already planning my next trip with them.

Worth every mile

From the first phone call to the flight home, these folks were dialed in. The Free-Range · Self-Guided country in South Island is everything they said it would be. Professional guides, honest advice, and a hunt I'll be telling stories about for years.

Best-run hunt I've been on

Booked my Free-Range · Self-Guided hunt through Dispatch and it was flawless start to finish. The advisor was honest about the terrain and fitness in South Island, and everything they promised showed up exactly as described. My guide knew the country cold. Can't recommend it enough.
