A self-guided moose hunt in the Wood-Tikchik country is one of the last truly wild things you can do with a hunting license and a float plane. It is also a lot of work, and that's the point.
Drop-camp reality
The plane leaves and it's you, your partner, and a lot of country. You'll set camp, glass the willows and burns, and call. When a bull commits, the hunt is only half over — the pack-out is the other half.
Meat before trophy
A mature bull is a mountain of meat. Plan your camp within reasonable distance of water and be honest about how many trips it takes to get everything out clean and cool. This is where a proper skinner earns its place in your pack.
Who it's for
This hunt rewards competent, self-reliant hunters. If that's you, it's a tremendous value and a genuine adventure. If you'd rather have guides and horses, we'll point you somewhere else — no ego in it.
